The creature that crawled on the sky, Part II

The harvester listened as the boy had his say
while his spindly hand hovered inches away
And just when the child began to despair
the skeleton harvester took to the air
The youth thought he'd lived by the strength of his ploy
but there were other reasons for sparing the boy
The skeleton harvester would today be gentle
For the child below him had so much potential
With bone structure fair, skeleton just right
What a waste not to wait until it was ripe
Furthermore, what the child had said was quite true
That beast was a treasure that would vanish soon
So for now the boy lived, though this wasn't the end
In several more years they'd be meeting again
Back in town, events were somewhat suboptimal
As the creature above descended atop them all
It surveyed its prey and showed its long teeth
and delighted at all the morsels beneath
The villagers wondered who'd be its first victim
when an unlikely ally suddenly drop-kicked in
The skeleton harvester had finally arrived
Intent now on making this beast his new prize
The creature was stunned by the blow to the head
but it quickly regrouped and it wanted him dead
So it snarled and it snapped and it swiped and it slashed
and it bit and it swung and it stomped and it gnashed
Every strike from the Creature That Crawled simply whiffed
Its opponent was small and incredibly swift
Yet because all this dodging was hyperintensive
there wasn't a chance for a counteroffensive
The balance of battle was delicate, clearly
The first to slip up would pay for it dearly
And, so it was, as he dodged the beast's claws
The harvester swooped too close to its jaws
The razor-sharp fangs swept in attack
and closed upon him with an audible crack
The blow, while not lethal, could not be called small
With his wing torn to shreds, he started to fall
But he would not be so easily defeated
In that instant he had the chance that he needed
He grabbed on to the spine, and with all of his might
he ripped the foul creature right out of the sky
With tremendous force it came crashing down
(and it luckily only smashed part of the town)
As the dust finally cleared, it was plain to see
which of the two had achieved victory
The one-winged one was on top, and below
lay silent his defeated osseous foe
Though normally his presence was cause for fright
the townsfolk all cheered when he came into sight
The boy, who had run back as fast as he could
whooped happily, too, from the hill that he stood
Perhaps from the shock everyone was still reeling
but the town was beset by the bizzarest of feelings
No, more than bizzarest; it was bizzarester
They all felt safe with the skeleton harvester.

The creature that crawled on the sky, Part I

There once was a creature that crawled on the sky
with very sharp teeth that caused people to die
Made only of bone and an instinct to kill
it wound over oceans and stalked over hills
Any village that found this thing at its door
very quickly became a village no more
One day, expecting the sunrise in the east
a child, instead, saw this shadowy beast
He thought to himself, I don't have much time
If I don't act quickly it's the end of the line
I can't save my village, I'm not yet a man
But I know of someone... something who still can
So he ran to the wastelands outside of town
And he stood on a hill and shouted aloud:
I've always been told not to come to this place
And to run if I ever caught sight of your face
But I think you might now be my town's only hope
So show yourself, he squeaked through the lump in his throat
It seemed for a moment that the whole world stood still
But then down his spine ran a horrific chill
Behind him: the one he both needed and feared
Silently, the skeleton harvester had appeared
Those leathery wings, that spidery hand
The boy was so frightened he barely could stand
The creature from tales that had haunted his sleep
was moving right toward him, ready to reap
Yet courage and self preservation prevailed
The boy voiced his plan, his gambit unveiled
I can see in your eyes that my bones aren't enough
(Though, for reasons quite clear, this was a bluff)
My skeleton is plain and really quite small
while over there is the rarest skeleton of all
That ivory creature is one of a kind
and if you fail to act now it will leave you behind
So don't waste your time ending my body/bone unity
Go and claim that unique harvesting opportunity
With fear in his heart and his breath, oh how bated
he gazed at the skeleton harvester
and he waited.

Look to the cookie

"The thing about eating the Black and White cookie, Elaine, is you want to get some black and some white in each bite. Nothing mixes better than vanilla and chocolate. And yet somehow racial harmony eludes us. If people would only look to the cookie all our problems would be solved. Look to the cookie Elaine. Look to the cookie."

Elect the dead

Arms are raised above the sky,
but all I want is
me...
You are there... beside the night,
but all I want is me... all I want is me...
Love we know... comes from inside...
But all I want is me... all I want is me...
Death... we know...
Comes to us... alive...
But all I want is you...
Death we know comes to all of us alive!
But all I want is
you!
All I need is
you!
All I want...

Rebelde Buey

God

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Mr. Anderson! We meet again...

'I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure.'
